There are two downloads for you to choose from; one is for those who already have the VX Run-Time Package installed (you can get it from here), and for those who do not. If you don’t even know what a VX Run-Time Package is, you should go for the 218 MB download. It should allow you to play the game without the Run-Time Package installed (and if it doesn’t, tell me ASAP; I’ve never set that up before). In any case, choose which download is right for you and click the appropriate graphic.
If you can’t see the graphics:

Quite possily the best old-school RPG I’ve played since Chrono Trigger. You should be very proud.
The way you blend custom art with RPG Maker resources and make them look like a single unified product is masterful. The story was enthralling. Once I started I could not stop playing.
Thank you so very much for this game.

This game looks great. Would I be able to add it to my Indie RPG list so people can be re-directed here to download it? I’m compiling a list for my site.

Can I have a link to your site?

It’s http://www.flatrpg.com
It is a brand new site hence why there is little on it at the moment. I would list your RPG under the independent RPg section with a link to this site for people who wish to download it.
Let me know, thanks!

Hmm couldn’t open the file. It tried to open with adobe and couldn’t because it’s an ‘unsupported file’. Help please?

What are you trying to open with Adobe?

Hi. I downloaded and launched the game, but it doesn’t pass the credits. Can anyone help?
12 February 2013 at 6:25 PM

The credits are at the end of the game… can you give me more of an explanation?

Sorry, did mean the sponsors. Here what’s happening:
Start the game – Logo “Start Cadets” / Present” – then, nothing. Can’t move the window, can’t close it. I need to use the Task Manager to close it. I looked at the process and it use 73k of memory and keep going up. I let it go for 10 minutes and nothing appeared. It even crashed explorer.exe… His this detail more accurately?

Yeah it makes more sense but I don’t know what to tell you! I’ve never heard of anyone having this issue before. What OS do you have maybe?

Windows 7 and I tried with the compatibility mode (WinXPSP3).

I’m going to play it ^-^!! I’ll tell you what I think later :D !! Is this game a horror game or .. ? :D
23 February 2013 at 11:10 AM
Ronove
No it’s not horror (I mean I guess one part could classify as a kind of RPG!horror…), it’s just a typical dreamy Fantasy RPG.

I enjoyed every second of this game. It’s really funny; I tend to miss really crucial things in games and thus make them ten times harder for myself, and I didn’t realize you had to actually read the magic books until I was past the Sepulcher. Ouch. xD But that’s okay because it made the game a lot more “puzzley” because I had to be very careful since my characters weren’t using MP much. And it also meant that whenever enemies stole MP I’d be like “Okay, I don’t use that much anyway :D”
I loved the whole thing, the story, the characters, the challenge….This game is about as close to perfect as I could hope for :D
Are you going to make any games in the future, or expand on this game’s universe in any other way? :O
7 March 2013 at 4:41 PM
Ronove
Oh no! I swore some NPC mentioned you had to read the Tomes! I’m glad you still managed to get pretty far though!
I’m glad you enjoyed playing! :) I do plan on making more games in the future and I do have a sequel for SSP in the works (though it’s not going to be a game, rather a web novel because that’s how the story was coming together). Thanks for playing!

xD It made Snowe trying to set the scarecrow head on fire and failing and the part where Snowe mentions attempting to set the room on fire (which certain folks didn’t take kindly to) or suggesting burning down a door a bit confusing, to say the least. I was like, “Snowe, why are you burning things in cutscenes I wanna burn things”
Sweet :D (sits patiently for it)
8 March 2013 at 10:00 AM
Ronove
I figure that Snowe can set things on fire without learning from the tome. :P Perhaps when he does it WITHOUT learning, it’s more chaotic than controlled (which would be reserved for cutscene only~)! It’s a terrible handwave, I’m sure! XD That would be infuriating though! Still glad you enjoyed playing! :)

Sorry I’ve been trying for two days since yester-yesterday to get your game to work but my actions are futile -_- The game REALLY won’t open. I’m sorry.

i downloaded the game but i dont know how to open it or get it started i already downloaded jzip and extracted it but i dont know what to do now i dont even know what i was doing before

You should be able to double click the game.exe and the game should start. I’m not 100% sure what you’re talking about though so if that doesn’t help, please give me more information! I hope it works out!

:( It’s really not working I’ve extracted the files and double-clicked the Game. exe and everything. It says “Extracting files” and after that … nothing :/ I was really hoping to play your game, even before it was finished. I’m just sad that it’s not working for me or this Jennifer person :( Maybe WinZip just isn’t the right extracting program thingy (it said evaluation version). Should I purchase WinRar?
10 March 2013 at 10:04 AM
Ronove
My programmer uses 7Zip (which is free) and that works. The only extracting files should happen when you unpack the .rar file (when you double click the .exe there should be no extracting files).

i know this sucks but i realy want to play this game so im gonna need a complete step by step on how to get this game
10 March 2013 at 7:08 PM
Ronove
All right. Click the download that’s right for you (if you’ve never had RPG Maker VX at all, download the w/ RTP Version). It should be a .rar when you download it. Save it anywhere you like. When it’s downloaded, choose your favorite unzipping tool (7Zip is free) and extract the .rar file. When everything is extracted, go into the folder that it extracted and double click the Game.exe. The game should play.

Then I have no idea how to help you. If you’re still interested in the game, there are a number of youtube LPs on there where you can watch to your heart’s content.

when I click at ,,start game” it shows window ,, unable to fing graphics/system/TileA3 :(
14 March 2013 at 6:09 PM
Ronove
Did you download it recently?
14 March 2013 at 6:14 PM
Ronove
Whoops. I was trying to prune out some files to take down the size and I forgot the compressed sections of the game lacked that and took it out. Go into the Graphics Folder, and click into the System folder. Place this file: http://i.imgur.com/r8WrtmG.png in there and name it TileA3. I’ll be uploading the download again and sorry again for the mistake.

Oh my, one of the best games I’ve ever played! It was one of the best 10 hours of my life, thank you sir. I heard there’s going to be sequel! I gave you my full respect now! Days, weeks, months, hell even years I’ll wait!
Sincerely

Aww, thank you! The sequel is NOT a game, however, so it won’t take me THAT long to make it. I hope. It’s a webnovel and I’ve started posting it here: http://ephemeral-prince.tumblr.com/ . I plan to update every Tuesday.
